Ministry Description Worship Assistant
16 Hours/Week

Job Description:
Working closely with the Director of Music, the Pastor of Public Ministry, the Parish Administrator, and other support staff, the Worship Assistant will perform duties important to our mission including but not limited to:
- Coordinate all aspects of weekend and mid-week worship. This may include preparation of the weekend and mid-week worship services using the Scriptures and theme outlined by the preachers.
- Recruiting, equipping, and training volunteers to assist in the preparation and development of all aspects of worship.
- Coordinating with and distributing to staff and other volunteers any information necessary for them to effectively carry out their ministries (i.e., children’Äôs message coordinator, Publications Secretary, readers, etc.).
- Scheduling of all weekend service personnel including worship leaders, lay readers, hospitality teams, and sound crew.
- Assist as needed with other worship assignments.
- Assist as needed with other secretarial duties to accomplish the ministry and mission of the church including but not limited to answering phones, receiving visitors, etc.
Skills Needed:
- Ability to plan daily work and establish priorities.
- Ability to coordinate people and information.
- Ability to partner with other staff to reach a common goal.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Ability to write and communicate well.
- A desire to recruit and train volunteers for ministry.
- An understanding of Lutheran worship.
Qualifications:
The Worship Assistant will possess: an eagerness to serve, a heart for individual and corporate worship, a commitment to personal prayer, and a desire for excellence. The Worship Assistant will be a quick learner, independent thinker, dependable, resourceful, organized, detail-oriented, motivated and creative, and a team player.
Reporting Relationship:
The Worship Assistant will meet weekly with the Director of Music, the Pastor of Public Ministry, and the Publications Secretary for planning and coordination of services. The Worship Assistant will meet regularly with the Parish Administrator for reporting and evaluation.
