Brandon Hahs
Director of worship and creative arts
On February 21, the congregation voted to offer a contract to Brandon Hahs to be our Director of Worship and Creative Arts. On March 8, Brandon informed us that he accepted the contract. May 2 will be his first day in the office and on May 9 he will be installed at both Sunday morning worship services.
Music has been a part of Brandon’s life since childhood. Raised in a family that taught him the importance of more than just going to church, Brandon understands the power that excellence and authenticity in a worship experience can bring.
Brandon was raised in Cape Girardeau, MO. Early in life, he experienced the desire to reach for his dreams, leading him to pursue music during college and then professionally in Decatur, Illinois, and Dallas, Texas. It was during his time in Dallas that he was introduced to a different way of doing worship. The idea: that worshipers should leave feeling as if they had truly experienced the emotion of the service.
Following a move back to Cape Girardeau in 1997, Brandon was asked to create this style of worship experience and serve as part-time director of worship at St. Andrew Lutheran Church. For the next eight years and through several different career paths, Brandon built this ministry from the ground up to become something very special. During this time he continued to question where he was truly being called and led. God had a plan.
In May 2006, after much prayer and encouragement, Brandon began conversations with St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Columbus, Indiana, about moving into full-time worship ministry. Through God’s grace, Brandon took a position there in July, 2006.
Last year, Brandon released his first full-length recording, “Step In,” featuring several original songs. He has begun consulting with other LCMS churches about building worship teams, ensuring worship flow, and strengthening the relationship between pastors and worship leaders. As a singer, songwriter, and full-time worship leader, Brandon shares his passion for God through the music he writes and delivers. Brandon’s songs speak to his authenticity, high energy, and innovative approach to live worship. The spirit of his music touches and inspires the lives of those experiencing each captivating worship experience.
Brandon currently serves as a consultant and visiting artist to the C3M program developed by Concordia University Nebraska. C3M is an exciting new program with a strong focus on contemporary church music and worship arts. Students enrolled in the program can be certified in four areas, including songwriting, performance, live and recorded sound, multi media and church planting.
Brandon is married to Marilyn and they have three children, Drew, Luke, and Natalie.
Brandon is constantly looking forward to what God has in store for his future, and is extremely excited to join the leadership team of the Lutheran Church of Webster Gardens. We ask for God's blessings on his ministry.
