Tuesday Bible Studies
Classes resume on January 5, 2010. Two new studies are being offered:
“Lose It For Life,” led by Mary Doering Join us as we begin an 11-week experience that will change our lives! Together in safe, supportive environments, we will learn healthy psychological, emotional and spiritual approaches to permanent weight loss and lifelong well-being. Lose It For Life offers hope and direction for anyone tired of struggling with their weight. More than a diet plan, this proven program focuses on the factors behind unhealthy eating habits, while offering biblical answers to these challenges. Cost for the book, study guide and interactive journal is $30.00. Everyone that attends at least 9 classes will be reimbursed. Funding is provided by the Missouri Foundation of Health. Contact Mary Doering – nurse@webstergardenschurch.org or 314-961-5275 if you plan to attend. |
| "What's So Amazing About Grace?" by Philip Yancey, led by Marj Lang Grace is the church’s great distinctive. It’s the one thing the world cannot duplicate, and the one thing it craves above all else – for only grace can bring hope and transformation to a jaded world. In "What’s So Amazing About Grace?", Philip Yancey explores grace at street level. If grace is God’s love for the undeserving, he asks, then what does it look like in action? And if Christians are its sole dispensers, then how are we doing at lavishing grace on a world that knows far more of cruelty and unforgiveness than it does of mercy? Grace does not excuse sin, says Yancey, but it treasures the sinner. True grace is shocking, scandalous. It shakes our conventions with its insistence on getting close to sinners and touching them with mercy and hope. |
Continuing classes include:
"A Quiet and Gentle Spirit, a study of 1st Peter" by Elizabeth George, led by Kim Boyll |
"He Still Moves Stones" by Max Lucado, led by Viola Kuecker Why does the Bible contain so many stories of hurting people? Though their situations vary, their conditions don't. Lucado reminds us that the purpose of these portraits isn't to tell us what Jesus DID - but rather to remind us what Jesus still DOES. |
