1st Serve Saturday
Serving our Community through “First Serve Saturday”
How would you like to be a part of making an eternal impact in our community for Jesus Christ? How would you like to be a part of something at Webster Gardens Lutheran Church that is getting us all a little dirty as we serve people in need right in our own community. Jesus went to where the needy people were. He hung out with the sick. He touched the hurting. God calls us to do the same. The church needs to not just be in the building but out where the people are who need Jesus and His love. “We need to go where the fish are.”
1st Serve Saturday gets us out into the community on one Saturday a month in droves to serve.
We serve…
- single moms
- widows
- elderly
- disabled
- those struggling financially
We do things like…
- raking leaves
- cleaning windows
- cleaning gutters
- mowing lawns
- landscaping
- doing other minor repairs
We desire to...
- Serve our community as Jesus calls us to do.
- Matthew 4:10 “…: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.' "
- Galatians 5:13 “You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.”
- Ephesians 6:7”Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men,”
- 1 Peter 4:10 “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.”
- John 12:26 “Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I
am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves
me.”
- Change the paradigm of Christians as being judgmental, for themselves, hypocritical to compassionate, caring, loving, giving
- Love the lost to Jesus
- Show our community we really, genuinely care about them and want to help with their needs.
